VP of Procurement (Dietary Supplement)
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Procurement will provide strategic and operational leadership across the company’s procurement and sourcing functions. This executive will be responsible for ensuring reliable and cost-effective supply of raw materials, ingredients, components, and packaging required to support the manufacturing operations and customer demand.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement and strategic sourcing strategy aligned with company growth, manufacturing requirements, and financial objectives.
· Develop, lead, and mentor the procurement and purchasing organization, establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
· Establish procurement policies and procedures, KPIs, and controls that support a scalable, high-performing organization.
· Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on material costs, supplier strategy, inventory exposure, supply-chain risk, and working-capital opportunities.
· Support organizational growth by building procurement infrastructure capable of managing increasing volume, SKU complexity, and customer requirements.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
· Lead strategic sourcing of dietary supplement ingredients, raw materials, excipients, flavors, botanicals, vitamins, minerals, specialty ingredients, and packaging components.
· Develop and maintain a diversified supplier network capable of supporting quality, cost, capacity, lead-time, and continuity requirements.
· Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities, lead times, and other commercial terms.
· Establish supplier performance programs focused on quality, service delivery, cost responsiveness, and reliability.
· Identify alternative and secondary sources for critical materials to mitigate supply-chain risk and reduce dependency on single-source suppliers.
· Monitor ingredient markets, commodity trends, geopolitical risks, tariffs, and other factors that could impact material availability and cost.
Cost, Inventory & Working Capital:
· Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that drive measurable material cost savings and margin improvements.
· Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to improve inventory turns and working-capital performance while maintaining appropriate material availability.
· Optimize liquidity and working capital requirements while maintaining supplier stability, contractual obligations, customer commitments, supply continuity, and long-term strategic supplier relationships.
· Track procurement KPIs, including purchase-price variance, material spend, supplier performance, cost savings, inventory exposure, and on-time delivery.
Manufacturing & Cross Functional Leadership:
· Ensure procurement activities support production Schedules and customer commitments across a complex, high-SKU, batch-based manufacturing environment.
· Partner with operations and planning to proactively address shortages, long-lead-time materials, production changes, and demand fluctuations.
· Improve utilization of ERP/MRP systems and procurement data to strengthen forecasting, purchasing, and material planning.
· Partner with R&D and Product Development to support sourcing for new products, reformulations, and commercialization.
