Position Title: Assistant Manager, Procurement

 

Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager, Procurement supports the execution of sourcing and procurement strategies for raw materials, packaging components, and contract services. This role operates at the intersection of supply chain, quality, and operations, ensuring material availability, cost competitiveness, and compliance with regulatory and quality standards (including cGMP).

 

The position requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional who can manage supplier relationships, support negotiations, monitor inventory levels, and help drive continuous improvement in procurement processes. This individual will play a key role in maintaining supply continuity while supporting margin optimization and operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support end-to-end procurement of raw materials, ensuring all compliance with specifications, RFQs, specifications, quality, and delivery standards.

  • Assist in supplier sourcing, qualification, and onboarding in partnership with Quality and Regulatory teams.

  • Manage purchase order creation, tracking, and follow-up to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning/operations to prevent shortages or excess stock.

  • Support cost analysis, price benchmarking, and vendor negotiations.

  • Maintain supplier performance metrics (OTIF, quality, lead times, cost trends)

  • Ensure all purchased materials meet internal specifications and regulatory requirements (cGMP, FDA, NSF, etc.)

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality Assurance, Production, and Finance

  • Assist in managing supply risks, including dual sourcing and contingency planning

  • Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP/MRP systems

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes  

 

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field

·       2-5 years of procurement or sourcing experience, preferably in dietary supplements or nutraceuticals space.

·       Strong understanding of raw material sourcing within regulated manufacturing environments.

·       Familiarity with cGMP requirements and supplier qualification processes.

·       Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (cost analysis, forecasting, data tracking)

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·       Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience in a contract manufacturing (CMO/CDMO) environment.

·       Exposure to global sourcing and international suppliers.

·       Knowledge of ingredient markets.

·       Experience supporting audits or working with QA on supplier compliance.
